I have a soft spot for creative visualizations.  The Map of Science Collaboration was compiled by a 5-man team for an exhibit at the NY Hall of Science, and is one of the most beautiful graphic visualizations I’ve seen.
It is a visual representation of the content and cross-citation of over 800,000 scientific research papers.  You can read up on the piece, and see a 9.6 megapixel “reduction” of the original 42”x43” print on the personal site of one of the creators.  (via discovermagazine.com by way of digg)
