I have always been of two minds when it comes to lolcats. One the one hand, amusingly captioned pictures of cats exemplify the lowest, least intelligent form of entertainment possible and are a shining example of all that is wrong with the internet. On the other hand, amusingly captioned pictures of cats are funny. Lolcats are mostly like dick jokes - You feel like an idiot for laughing, but you still laugh.
Every so often though, a perfect storm of immature humor forms to create something that is actually quite epic. This thread from some unnamed image board (4chan?) is one such storm. It is also available in a video version, but I find the original image thread is somehow funnier. (via Digg)
Is it bad that I know all of them and remember when most of them hit? Is it worse that I’m a bit dissapointed that Raptor Jesus never made the cut? (via Digg)
I’m not a big Weezer fan, but I am a fan of internet memes, and this video has them in spades. It also has over 200k views since it was put up about six hours ago. Yay internet! (via Digg, Boingboing, and probably a shit-ton of other sites too)
What if Google threw a party and all the internets were invited?
OK, this isn’t exactly new, but I found another great video today from Those Aren’t Muskets! and it reminded me that I meant to post this a couple weeks ago. I can’t believe nobody has picked these guys up for a TV series yet. You’d think Lorne Michaels would be all over them.
Maybe this is only funny if you spend several hours per day on various blogs, social bookmarking sites, and message boards. In any case, it’s funny to me.
These are the things that amuse me. I am easily amused.
