A fiendishly complex metal puzzle block containing over 100 hand-machined pieces and weighing 40lbs is impressive. But when you find out that some of the pieces can be re-assembled into a functional .45 caliber pistol, it becomes the most badass piece of art ever. (via Engadget)
Remember when camcorders were huge? It wasn’t all that long ago when they were 15lb behemoths that sat on your shoulder, ate full-size VHS tapes and cost more than a used car. Well, we’ve come a long way baby.

I just got one of these nifty keychain cameras specifically for the purpose of taping to the top of my RC cars. Not only is it tiny and light, the built-in battery is good for about an hour of recording, and that will run out before you fill a 2GB microSD card. And the price for this miracle of modern science? A whopping $13. How cool is that? Everything you could ever want to know about these little guys can be found here.
The Chive collects 50 pics of toys, movies and memories from growing up in the 80s. Some really good stuff here, mostly taken from I’m Remembering! (another great site). (via Digg)
5 Reasons You Should Be Scared of Apple
This is why Steve Jobs can go right ahead and eat ALL the dicks. (via Digg)
Apple’s latest overpriced fetish-object, summed up by none other than Pee-Wee Herman. I’d make a joke about him watching porn on it, but it’s late and I’m tired.
Holy crap. Buckyballs are the coolest toy ever. I am definitely ordering a set of these. (via Boingboing)
EDIT: Way cheaper on Ebay. It’s too bad I’m poor, or I’d seriously consider the 2000 ball mega set.
Finally, a legitimate use for Microsoft’s Surface. I foresee Vayda selling some internal organs to afford one of these in the near future. (via Engadget)
Sickest computer case ever.
The Thermaltake Level 10 is the most beautiful, original PC case I’ve ever seen. For $700, I suppose it should be. The compartmentalized design is really ingenious, and looks badass. I can only hope that 3rd party Chinese knockoffs start showing up at some point, because I’ll never be able to drop that kind of cash on just a case. (via Digg)
Finally a legitimate Android replacement for the G1
I very much enjoy my G1 / HTC Dream phone, but it is not without its flaws. The hinge is and always has been creaky, and I’m lucky if I get more than 24 hours on a battery charge. Faults and all, it has still been the only Android phone with a physical keyboard available for the year-or-so since it launched.
Today Motorola announced the CLIQ, which despite the silly name, looks like a proper replacement for the G1. The custom UI looks great, and seems much snappier than the sluggish G1. I also prefer the traditional slider format used by the CLIQ to the G1’s “swing-slide” gimmick. No word on battery life yet, but it can’t possibly be worse than what I get now. Hopefully by the time this launches in the as-yet-undetermined future I will have a job and can afford to buy one out of contract.
